Last night’s episode of 60 Minutes featured a piece called “The Millennials are Coming” and featured this blog’s good friend Jason Dorsey.

The piece talked about how the next generation is fitting into the current workforce. Nothing surprising her for readers of this blog, but again, another good piece that will educate others about these difference between generations.

More pieces like these are helpful in what we are trying to do in Roanoke and the NRV - attract and retain young adults.

I wish a copy of this letter could be sent to every CEO of every company in the US, although I do not agree with the sterotypes of my generation and the need for "us" to be "babysat" while at work, I do feel that something could be said for positive reinforcement in the work place. I do not agree that the previous generations were on the right tract as far as selling their souls to the company, and in turn I think American companies have thought of the American worker as disposible. As far a product yeild for a more relaxed work enviroment, look to France, they have higher production than the US and they also have 35 hour work weeks and minimum 5 weeks paid holiday time by law. I for one am hoping the millennials will achieve this level of social services seen by the Europeans.
