I was recently asked to be a guest on Roanoke, Va Cox Media’s monthly local cable show Connections (hosted by Kim Stanley) to discuss the job search process using new/social media. Still only 6-10% of people get jobs online. Social media is no substitute for face-to-face job searching yet it cannot be ignored. Thanks to Cox Media for this opportunity to chat about this topic.

Working on a college campus and interacting with a lot of college students, I am amazed at how few are using Twitter. My experience has been that folks who have gone to twitter.com and play with the web version are not sold. However, once you start using TweetDeck you will see how great Twitter is and how all of your other social media profiles can be integrated into one easy format.

Job seekers can use this as a great tool to follow others, differentiate themselves, do research on companies or persons and identify job opportunities.
